Magistrate Court for Akure, Ondo State don order say make dem remand one TikTok content creator wey im name be Emmanuel Ajibade, for Olokuta Correctional Centre because say dem accuse am say e cyberbully one Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official.
Police carry Ajibade go court say e do the offence on April 24, 2025. According to wetin Police Prosecutor, Inspector Taiwo Oniyere yarn, dem say Ajibade, together with some other people wey still dey on the run, na dem do cyberstalking, cyberbullying and defamation for Higher Height Area, Orita Obele, for Akure.
Oniyere talk say na through TikTok account wey get the name “checkers69” Ajibade take dey post false information wey dey cause annoyance, insult, danger and criminal defamation. E say the post wey e share make FRSC official, Ibitoye Samuel, dey feel intimidation, hatred, and unnecessary fear.
The prosecutor talk say the offence wey dem charge Ajibade for dey under Section 27(b) and Section 24(b) of the Cyber Crime (Prohibition and Prevention) Act, 2015 for Nigeria law. E beg the court make dem remand Ajibade for custody make police fit continue investigation.
Lawyer wey dey defend Ajibade, A.F. Awala, ask the court make dem allow am submit counter-affidavit to take answer police own.
Chief Magistrate Olateju Odenusi-Fadeyi come talk say she don hear both affidavit and counter-affidavit from prosecution and defence.
She come rule say: “I don hear both side. I order say make dem remand the defendant for Olokuta Correctional Centre until legal advice from DPP land.”
Ajibade go remain for custody until June 27, 2025.
