Boko Haram Don K!ll At Least 17 Fishermen and Farmers for Borno State

Boko Haram militants don k!ll at least 17 fishermen and farmers for Malam Karanti village wey near Baga, inside Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State. Dem accuse dem say dem dey support rival jihadist group, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Reports talk say di attack happen on Thursday afternoon as di victims dey fish and farm near di shores of Lake Chad. Some people sef dem carry go, and people dey fear say di number of dead fit still increase.

One militia leader, Babakura Kolo, wey dey fight against di jihadist dem, tell reporters say, “Na 17 bodies we don recover so far, and we still dey search for more.” E talk say Boko Haram believe say di fishermen and farmers dey help ISWAP, even though dem too dey k!ll civilians when e favor dem.

Another militia member, Umar Ari, confirm di attack. E say di gunmen show around 2pm Thursday and target people wey dey work near di lake.

Dis attack show how di wahala for northeast Nigeria never stop. Since 2009, Boko Haram and ISWAP don dey fight for di area. Di fight don k!ll more than 40,000 people and displace over 2 million.

Dem two groups don dey fight each other since dem split in 2016 because of wahala for ideology and who go control which area.

Kolo talk say, “Boko Haram don dey control Lake Chad area now, and dem dey fear say ISWAP fit come back strong.”

Na just some hours after dis Malam Karanti attack, ISWAP fighters still go attack one military base wey dey house Nigerian and Cameroonian soldiers for Wulgo on Friday early morning. Dem k!ll five soldiers for there.

Civilians like farmers, fishermen, herders and people wey dey pick scrap metal don turn regular target for both groups. Dem dey always accuse dem say dem dey spy or dey help military.

For January, ISWAP reportedly k!ll at least 40 farmers for Dumba because dem go farm without permission. One Nigerian intelligence report wey AFP see talk say di number fit pass 100.

Last month too, Boko Haram k!ll 14 farmers near Pulka, wey near Cameroon border — all dis show say rural communities still dey suffer for hand of these groups.
