Dis 22-year-old athlete wey come from Port Harcourt perform well well, and everybody wey dey there – spectators and fellow athletes – dey hail her. Na Shaunae Miller get the old record wey she set for 2018, but Ofili don break am. She come be the first woman ever wey run 150 metres under 16 seconds.
From the beginning of the race, Ofili just carry the lead after the 50 metres mark, and she no look back. She leave other runners behind well well, even though second position Tamari Davis run her personal best, e still far from Ofili time.
After the race, Ofili talk say, “The Lord good, and na miracle I see so. Honestly, the time shock me,” she talk. “But I know say I don train, I trust my coach, I believe in the program, and I know say God go do am when the time reach.”
As she dey talk about her strategy, Ofili come add say dem tell her make she run the race like say na 100 metres. “Dem tell me make I relax and run am like na 100,” she talk.
This new victory na another feather for Ofili cap. For 2023, she set African record for 200 metres with 22.36 seconds for Tyson Invitational wey happen for Fayetteville, Arkansas. Her performance for Atlanta don show say she be one of the fastest women for Africa and she dey shake hands with the best athletes for the whole world.
