Justice O. A. Okunuga wey dey Lagos State High Court for Ikeja don find one woman wey her name be Ajanaku Oluwatomilola guilty and sentence am to three years for inside prison because of N14.5 million fraud.
Na Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of EFCC re-arraign Oluwatomilola on top six-count charge wey involve stealing, collecting money and property with lie, and still hold am, all amounting to N14.5 million. Dis one happen on April 14, 2024.
Dem sentence her on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
For 2021, the woman collect N14.5 million from some people wey report the case, say na for investment. Dem agree say the profit go dey come every month for three months. But after two months, she stop to pay the return wey dem agree.
Investigation come show say the woman no get licence to dey run investment business or collect money from people for public.
One of the charges talk say: “You, Ajanaku Oluwatomilola, wey dey do business as Yenniegoldie Signature, for 2021 inside Lagos, with mind to cheat, carry N5 million wey belong to one company wey dem call Truetalk Telecom Services, and use am for your own. This na stealing and e dey against Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
The woman say she no do am (she plead not guilty), so dem begin trial.
During the trial, EFCC lawyer, F. Ofoma, call four people as witness, including EFCC officer Christopher Ameh and the people wey report the matter.
The woman lawyer, O. Ajanaku, beg the court make dem show mercy because she be first-time offender and she don show say she sorry.
He still talk say dem go pay back the money to the people wey report the case.
When Justice Okunuga give judgement, she find the woman guilty for three counts of stealing and give her one year each for the three counts – total three years.
But the judge free her for the other charges wey concern lying to collect money and holding property.
The judge still order say make she pay N6 million back to the people wey she collect the money from.
