Oligbi-Edeko (wey dey represent Esan North-East II), announce say she dey step down during plenary for Benin City, di state capital, on Monday, May 19, 2025.
She resign because PDP don turn minority for di Assembly as some PDP members, including di Speaker, waka go join APC.
Hon. Oligbi-Edeko bin dey elected as Deputy Speaker of di 8th Assembly on June 16, 2023, before she resign.
After she resign, di House come elect Mr Osamwonyi Atu (APC, Orhionmwon East) as di new Deputy Speaker after all di members vote agree.
Meanwhile, Majority Leader, Hon. Jonathan Aigbokhan, raise one motion make dem give all di entitlement wey dey follow di Deputy Speaker position to Oligbi-Edeko.
Minority Leader, Hon. Charity Airobarueghian support di motion, and all di members agree with voice vote.
For her resignation letter to di House, Oligbi-Edeko talk say she resign to make justice, fairness and equality reach all di constituencies.
She still thank PDP leaders and members for believe in her and give her chance to represent her people for di Assembly.
Di lawmakers hail her strong dedication and passion for public service.
