Obi talk this one after one civic tech group, BudgIT Nigeria, release report wey show say over 11,000 suspicious projects wey reach ₦6.93 trillion don enter the budget through National Assembly members. BudgIT talk say this one na part of one deep system of exploitation and abuse wey dem say na the leaders of the Assembly dey lead am.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House of Reps Speaker Tajudeen Abbas — both from ruling party APC — dey in charge of the two chambers now.
For statement wey Obi post for X on Wednesday, May 21, he talk say, “Nigeria still be corruption headquarters. I don always talk am say for this country to move forward, we gats stop to dey run am like crime scene and repackage am for better development.”
He add say, “This kain corruption wey don turn normal and wey don enter deep deep, we gats stop am quick if we wan really change this country.”
Obi refer to BudgIT report talk say the ₦7 trillion wey dem see for questionable allocations fit just be small part of the real money wey dem mismanage.
“These things wey BudgIT show dey very serious and e just confirm wetin I don dey talk since — say we don turn this country to crime scene,” he talk. “We gats fight corruption, mismanagement, and waste of public funds sharp sharp, so that we fit use our resources well and invest for health, education, and make we commot our people from poverty.”
He talk say the reason why education no dey go well, hospital system bad, hunger full everywhere, and agriculture no dey get money na because of the corruption wey our leaders dey do.
“This kain confidence wey our leaders get to dey do anyhow na why we no fit invest for education. Na why almost 20 million children never go school,” Obi talk.
“All these clear signs of corruption just support wetin I dey always talk: Nigeria don turn crime scene.”
