According to am, “To make sure say criminal justice work well well for Lagos, government don dey use technology and new ideas for di Ministry of Justice, even though say other agencies wey join for justice matter still get their own wahala.”
E still talk say government don bring in digital tools to take help stop crime and improve court processes. “We wan use technology help for prevention, investigation, and trial. We even create virtual rooms for Ministry of Justice to protect people wey wan testify and to reduce expenses,” e add.
Pedro come mention Lagos Criminal Information System (LCIS) as one of di big tech achievement wey di ministry don get. “LCIS na platform wey dey help automate criminal justice work for Lagos,” e talk.
As e describe di system, e explain say: “Na databank wey get all criminal cases wey still dey for Magistrate and High Courts for Lagos. Di system dey carry all information about suspects — their biometric, picture, and di crime wey dem accuse dem of.”
Pedro still yarn say LCIS don record over 73,962 criminal cases and inmates from 2018 reach May 2025. “Between January 2024 and May 2025 alone, dem don process over 10,000 suspects and cases,” e talk.
As at May 2025, Lagos correctional centres get total of 9,096 inmates — wey be 106 percent more than how many di places suppose carry.
“64 percent of di convictions wey happen for di period na through plea bargain,” e add.
