One woman wey live for the area, Hajiya Hassana Mokwa, tell Daily Trust say 12 out of 13 people from her brother house die for di flood. Na only one person survive and dem don carry am go hospital.
She talk say di flood also kill children wey dey for Quranic school wey her cousin dey run.
She talk say: “For my brother house, dem be 13, na only one person survive and e dey hospital now. Plenty almajiri children wey dey for Quranic school wey our cousin dey run also die. Nobody survive for dat house and di whole building don sink inside water. If you go there now, you no go believe say dem build anything there before.
“One one-storey building wey people dey live inside, water swallow am complete. As I dey talk to you now, nobody fit talk how many people dey under di building wey collapse.”
She still talk say as at 7pm yesterday, dem dey do burial for di people wey dem don see their body.
Another person wey dey live for the area, Mallam Hamza Mahmud, talk say dem don see body of two people from him family, but three still dey miss. He believe say na over 60 people die.
Dem still recover body of one pregnant woman around 6pm, and four of her children still dey miss.
People wey dey around talk say over 50 children from another Quranic school never still show as at 7pm.
One of di people, Alhaji Baba Adamu, talk say: “Na mostly women and children be the victims. Some men die too, but women and children pass. Dem see body of one woman around 6pm. Another Quranic school still dey where dem never find most of the children wey dey there.”
