Di killing wey happen don shake the whole community gbaladun. People say na Fulani herders wey carry heavy gun do the wahala. Eyewitness talk say the attackers enter around midnight, begin shoot anyhow, burn houses, and leave everywhere full of blood, ashes and cry.
Even though the Benue State government dey talk say peace dey the area, people wey dey live for places like Apa no agree. One community leader talk during the burial say, “How we go dey talk peace when we dey bury our people in dozens? Wetin we need na justice, no be silence!”
For some years now, places wey dey near border for Benue—like Apa, Agatu, and Guma—don dey suffer steady attacks. Yet, we never see any serious arrest or punishment for the people wey dey cause the wahala. People wey survive this Edikwu Ankpali attack don join the long list of internally displaced persons (IDPs) for the state.
As Nigeria dey battle with insecurity, the cry from Benue dey loud pass before. Community leaders and human rights groups dey shout make federal government enter the matter quick, do better investigation, and carry the killers go face justice.
