Former Super Eagles coach and player, Sunday Oliseh, don talk strong against di appointment of foreign coach to lead Nigeria senior national team, say we get correct Nigerian coaches wey dem dey ignore.
As he dey talk for Channels Sports on Sunday, Oliseh blast Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) say dem hand over di team to Eric Chelle – one French-born former Mali international. Chelle get di job for January to replace Augustine Eguavoen wey dey serve as interim coach before.
“I no support say dem no give dat position to Nigerian person because we get plenty qualified Nigerians wey fit do di work,” na wetin Oliseh yarn.
Since Chelle enter, he don coach Super Eagles for five matches – win three, draw two, and never lose. But even with that record, Oliseh still dey ask why dem go need foreign coach, as he point to him own time as coach and how he sabi discover talent.
“When we dey talk of defensive midfield, na me bring that young boy Wilfred Ndidi. Na same time I bring in Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho, and na me first call dem go Super Eagles because I see say dem get di talent,” he talk.
Oliseh still knock di way dem dey run leadership for team, especially as dem dey give captain band to players wey no dey play regularly.
“This na something wey no correct. E start when we begin get captains wey dey sit down for bench. You no fit do am. You no fit get captain wey no dey play. That one mean say na assistant dey lead team. Super Eagles na di biggest role for Nigerian football,” he talk.
As he talk more, Oliseh praise Wilfred Ndidi say e sabi play him role well for midfield, but he still talk say discipline and tactics dey very important for that position.
“If you go play that role, you need discipline. Second, you must get clear instruction wey dem don set for you. Na why coach wey get brain dey important,” he talk.
“For me, na one of di most important positions for football. You be like umbrella wey dey cover di defenders,” he add.
