One 24-year-old man from Entumbane, wey him name be Witness Sibanda, don get sentence for stealing household items like towels, bed sheets, light bulbs, and even one solar panel from two different Harris Lodges for Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
Dem talk say all the things wey he thief reach about US$480 in value.
Sibanda check into the lodges like normal guest, but as e wan run comot with the stolen items — including one cup and plate join — lodge security people catch am sharp sharp. Neighbourhood watch and armed detectives support dem and later arrest am. Luckily, dem recover all the stolen things.
When dem carry am go court, he appear before Magistrate Eva Matura and he no waste time — he plead guilty. As he dey beg for mercy, he tell the court say he never marry but get one six-year-old pikin, and say na for personal use he carry the items.
But the court no gree for that kind excuse. Dem sentence am to 12 months prison, but suspend 3 months for 5 years. The remaining 9 months dem convert am to 315 hours of community service for Siyazama Primary School.
