One South African man, Jabulani Nkosi, wey be 29 years old, don collect life imprisonment for k!lling him pregnant girlfriend, Boitsoko Khoza, and burning her body. The High Court for Mpumalanga, South Africa, give the judgment on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Nkosi still collect extra 5 years for arson (burning her house).
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Khoza was last seen by her friend on 22 November 2023. That same day, she tell her work people for WhatsApp say she no go show up for work because she dey travel go her parents’ house for Mamelodi.
But she no reach, and her family begin call friends and colleagues to find her. Her phone no dey go again, and dem report her as missing.
By 25 November 2023, fire catch her flat for Evander. Fire service (Govan Mbeki Fire Brigade) come quench the fire, but dem later discover say her burnt body dey inside.
Autopsy show say dem beat her badly, she get many rib fractures and stab wounds before dem burn her body. The doctors also confirm say she be 10 weeks pregnant when she die.
Nkosi later confess to some of him friends say na him do the k!lling. The police arrest am based on the confession and strong evidence.
Senior State Advocate Themba Lusenga present strong evidence including eyewitnesses, fire experts, and one local businessman wey talk say Nkosi sell the dead girl phone give am for R650.
During the case, the court hear from the girl mama wey give Victim Impact Statement, talk how the family don suffer serious emotional trauma since the tragedy.
The court describe the k!lling as brutal and wicked. Advocate Lusenga still tell the court say Nkosi no show any remorse, and he no fit even explain why he do wetin he do.
The court also talk say the case na example of the serious problem of gender-based violence (GBV) for society, especially as the woman wey die still dey pregnant.
In the end, the judge sentence Nkosi to:
- Life imprisonment for mrdr
- 5 years for arson
But the sentences go run at the same time, so Nkosi go serve life in prison. The court also ban am from ever owning gun again.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) talk say dem happy with the judgment, and dem still dey committed to fight gender-based violence, and support victims and their families to get justice.
