Di governors talk say federal government no return more than N1.8 trillion wey dem recover, plus 167 houses, 450 motors, 300 trailers and containers, and 20 million barrels of crude oil—wey everything worth pass N450 billion—into di Federation Account between 2015 and 2021.
Dem accuse di federal government say instead of putting di money and assets for di Federation Account wey constitution recognise, dem carry am go another account wey no dey lawful like Consolidated Revenue Account (CRA).
Di governors still talk say di Asset Recovery Account and Interim Forfeiture Recovery Account wey federal government dey use no get legal backing, and say di regulation wey guide am dey against wetin di Constitution talk. Dem quote Constitution—sections 162(1), 162(10), and 80—plus Section 2 of di 1958 Finance Act, to show say all recovered or forfeited assets na national money and e suppose enter di Federation Account. Dem ask Supreme Court make dem order federal government to return all di money and give full report of every asset wey dem no put for di right account.
Di governors also wan make court order Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMFAC) to create better way to share recovered assets among federal, state and local governments.
But Supreme Court no gree hear di matter at all, dem stand with federal government and say di governors no get ground to carry di case reach dem. So di governors don lose di fight.
