Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, don declare Monday, June 2, public holiday to show sympathy to the families of the people wey die for the motor accident wey kill 22 people and wound many others.
The people wey die na athletes, coaches and officials wey dey return from the National Sports Festival wey happen for Ogun State on Saturday, May 31, when their bus fall from bridge near Kano.
One statement wey the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, release talk say: “On behalf of Kano State government and the good people of the state, we send our heartfelt condolences to the brave Kano team members wey this sad thing happen to as dem dey return home through Kano–Zaria expressway.”
The statement still talk say the people wey dey inside the bus na athletes, coaches and officials wey represent Kano for different sport for the just end National Sports Festival.
Governor Yusuf talk say, “Na with heavy heart I hear the bad news of this accident wey take the lives of 22 innocent people and injure plenty others. On behalf of Kano State government and the people, we send our deep condolences to the families of those wey die. We dey mourn with una and feel una pain.”
Him call the accident a dark time for the whole state and beg everybody to stay calm and united for this hard period. He still promise say the government go do everything to support the victims and their families.
The statement still talk say, “Even though His Excellency dey Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj, he don direct say Monday, June 2, 2025, go be public holiday make people for Kano fit pray and show sympathy to the families of the victims.
“The state still dey beg all Imams and Muslims for inside and outside Kano to pray for the souls of the people wey die and for their families to get strength to bear the loss,” the statement add.
