Five worshippers wey terrorists kidnap during attack on Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) for Omugo, Oro Ago District, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, don d!e while dem still dey captivity.
Dem kidnap the victims on March 22, 2026, after heavily armed gunmen invade the church during worship service.
One of the people wey d!e na the wife of the church pastor, Rev. Sunday Timothy Omole.
Rev. Omole confirm the sad news to Daily Trust during phone conversation on Wednesday night, June 3.
The incident don throw Omugo community and ECWA members into deep mourning as families and community leaders dey wait for official confirmation from security agencies.
“It dey pain me well-well to announce say out of the eight people wey dem kidnap from ECWA Omugo on March 22, 2026, na only three still remain with the kidnappers. The other five don go meet the Lord,” Omole talk.
The pastor mention the names of the people wey d!e as Elder Chief David Omopariola, Chief Joseph Ibitoye Afariogun, Mrs Iyabo Aniyi, Elder Joshua Akanbi Adeyemi, and him wife, Mrs Rachael Oluwaremilekun Omole.
“Make God comfort their immediate families and the church as a whole,” he add.
Rev. Omole say na Mr Sunday Bakare, one of the abducted people wey later escape after spending more than one month with the kidnappers, carry the information come.
According to am, Bakare tell the church say five of the abducted people don d!e while the remaining three still dey captivity.
Sources say some of the victims dey take medication before dem kidnap dem, but their captors allegedly stop dem from getting access to their drugs.
People wey know about the negotiation process earlier reveal say families of the victims had already been informed about the d3aths, though details of how e happen never clear.
The kidnappers reportedly first demand N1 billion ransom, but the amount later reduce to N150 million during negotiations.
Sources tell Daily Trust say relatives of the victims eventually gather about N20 million and also provide food items and other supplies wey the abductors allegedly request to secure the victims’ release.
Despite all the efforts, the kidnappers reportedly collect the money and supplies but still refuse to release the victims.
The remaining three worshippers are still believed to dey captivity.
