The Kwara State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists during separate intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating across the Ilorin metropolis.
According to the police, the arrests were made following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance as part of the command’s ongoing campaign against cultism and other violent crimes.
Police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi identified one of the suspects as 33-year-old Abdullahi Omotoho, who is alleged to be a member of the Klans cult group. Officers reportedly recovered a locally fabricated Beretta-style pistol during his arrest.
Investigators said information obtained from the first suspect led to the arrest of a second suspect, Abdullahi Kawu, popularly known as “B-Red,” who is alleged to be affiliated with the Eiye confraternity. Authorities said he is assisting with ongoing investigations into cult-related activities within the state.
The police noted that preliminary investigations have provided valuable intelligence on suspected criminal gangs operating in Ilorin, while efforts continue to identify and apprehend other members of the groups. The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be charged in court after investigations are concluded.
Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, praised the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing. He also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information to help combat crime across the state.
