Julius Abure, wey be di factional national chairman of Labour Party (LP), don come out for public challenge Peter Obi and Govnor Alex Otti make dem name di party officials wey dem say collect money during di 2023 general election.
Abure talk dis one during stakeholders meeting wey happen for di party national secretariat for Utako, Abuja on Monday. E accuse some elected LP officials say dem dey plan to remove di national leadership even afta all di sacrifice wey di party executives don make.
Na Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, wey dey represent AMAC/Bwari federal constituency for House of Reps, call di meeting. Abure vex say some people for di party dey try spoil di name of di leadership. E talk say di national executive reject money bribe wey dem offer to get political favour.
“We reject billions of naira. We reject offers because of position. Today, na dem dey front to pursue us comot for office,” Abure talk.
“I wan challenge all of dem. I watch TV see say some dey talk about corruption. Today, I challenge all of dem — from Peter Obi go down — wey contest election. Make anybody come out talk wetin dem give me or give di party.
“No be to hide dey shout say corruption dey party. Who bring money? Who dem give am to? Where dem send am go? I dey challenge dem today, if any of dem get evidence — even if dem no get — make dem get liver come out talk when and how dem give di money. If dem no fit do am, make dem keep quiet forever.”
Abure talk say before now e no wan talk because e dey hope say dem go settle, but if dem push am, e go expose everything.
“I go call world press conference come challenge dem publicly. As leader, I keep quiet because I feel say maybe na mistake dem dey make, maybe one day dem go reason am well.
“When people dey talk about agent money, I no talk because I believe say di bad, good and ugly all dey for my head. So I no suppose throw away di bad or ugly pikin.
“But when I see say people dey cross line, I come talk small of wetin happen. I believe say by now, di house don scatter.
“I dey wait dem — from top to bottom — make dem try nonsense again, I go open mouth. And once I open mouth, anywhere dem go, dem go be like rotten egg, nobody go ever buy dem again.”
Labour Party don dey inside serious leadership wahala. Abure side dey fight with caretaker committee wey Nenadi Usman dey lead. Di committee get support from big names like Obi, Otti and Senator Ireti Kingibe from FCT.
For April, Supreme Court talk say Court of Appeal no get power to declare Abure as chairman. Di judgment cause wahala as different group dey interpret am their own way. On May 7, Abure side suspend Otti and Kingibe say dem do anti-party things. In return, caretaker committee suspend Abure and form panel wey Kingibe dey chair to investigate Abure over corruption and party money wahala.
Otti even call Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, make e arrest Abure for impersonation.
