Armed bandits have killed at least six people, including a village head and his son, in a violent attack on Kulodo community in Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community during the Asr prayer period, when many residents were gathered for worship, and opened fire indiscriminately before escaping into nearby forests on motorcycles.
Village leader among victims
The victims include the traditional ruler of Kulodo, Alhaji Abubakar Tudu, his eldest son, and four other residents identified as members of the community.
Eyewitness accounts and security reports say the attackers moved in large numbers and operated for several minutes without resistance, causing panic and forcing residents to flee for safety.
Livestock stolen, communities displaced
Aside from the killings, the bandits were also said to have rustled cattle and other livestock belonging to residents before escaping.
The attack has left the community in fear, with many families reportedly fleeing their homes due to concerns of further violence.

Sokoto State and other parts of Nigeria’s northwest have continued to experience repeated bandit attacks, including killings, kidnappings, and village raids.
Security analysts say the region remains one of the hardest hit by armed criminal groups operating across rural communities.
