Suspected armed gunmen have killed a retired Nigerian Army officer and abducted a woman during a midnight attack on a residential community in Nasarawa State, near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) border area.
The attack reportedly happened around 12:45 a.m. in a community identified as PGC area, close to Jikwoyi axis, where residents were caught off guard by the sudden invasion.
How the attack happened
According to security sources, the gunmen stormed a home belonging to a resident identified as Silas Orite, where they forcefully abducted his wife, Bukola Oluwatoyin Silas (40).
As the attackers were escaping with the victim, a retired military officer who served as the community’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), Master Warrant Officer Reuben Yelwa (rtd.), rushed to intervene.
Tragically, the gunmen opened fire on him during the confrontation, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene with the abducted woman.

Police operatives later arrived at the scene, documented evidence, and launched investigations into the incident.
Security agencies have also intensified search-and-rescue operations aimed at tracking the kidnappers and rescuing the abducted woman safely.
