Police Arrest Suspected Shilla Boys Terrorising Yola Communities

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested five suspected members of the notorious “Shilla Boys” gang during a security operation in Yola.

Police said the suspects had allegedly been involved in robbery, phone snatching and other criminal activities that have caused fear among residents in parts of the state capital. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to improve security and reduce violent crime across the city.

Security Operation Leads to Arrests

According to the police, officers from the Violent Crime Response Unit carried out the operation after receiving credible intelligence about the gang’s activities.

During the raid, the officers arrested five suspects and recovered several cutlasses believed to have been used in criminal operations. The police also said investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the group who remain at large.

Residents Welcome Police Action

Many residents have expressed relief following the arrests. In recent months, communities in Yola have complained about increasing cases of robbery, harassment and phone snatching linked to suspected Shilla Boys.

Business owners and commuters had repeatedly called for stronger security measures, especially in areas where attacks were frequently reported. The latest operation is expected to improve public confidence and discourage further criminal activities.

Police Urge Public to Support Crime Fight

The Adamawa State Police Command encouraged residents to continue providing useful information that can help security agencies prevent crime.

Police also advised members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements in their communities. They stressed that community cooperation remains essential in identifying criminal hideouts and ensuring that offenders face justice.

Authorities said the suspects will be charged in court after investigations are completed. Meanwhile, security patrols have been intensified across Yola and nearby communities to prevent further criminal activities and maintain public safety.
