The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) don para for Federal Government say dem no dey do anything serious about the Benue killings wey don claim over 200 lives. CAN say this matter don turn to serious shame and show say government no dey protect its people at all.
For statement wey dem release on Monday, June 16, wey CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, sign, dem talk say the killings don too much and dem no go gree again. Dem call on the FG to catch and punish the killers sharp-sharp so this circle of violence and impunity go stop.
Archbishop Okoh talk say:
“People for Benue don dey suffer too much. Na so so attack every time, and government no dey do anything meaningful to stop am or give justice. This kain failure to protect Nigerians don give attackers boldness, and na why the killings still dey continue.”
CAN come beg government make dem:
- Send more security go Benue, especially the communities wey dey suffer pass
- Even if e mean to declare state of emergency, make dem do am for peace to return
- Do proper investigation wey go be open and honest
- Carry the killers go court make dem face the law
CAN still beg international community to join hand help bring peace and support the victims of the attack.
Archbishop Okoh end the statement with one prayer for peace and justice for Benue, and him urge everybody—government, citizens, and communities—make dem unite and stop this wahala before more innocent lives go waste.
