Former Senate President David Mark don warn say if government no fit stop the attacks wey dey happen for Benue State, the people no go get choice than to defend themselves.
For one statement wey him Special Adviser, Paul Mumeh, release on Monday, June 16, Mark talk say the security wahala don too much, and many communities for Benue don suffer well-well — plenty people don die, and properties don scatter.
He talk say:
“The number one job of government na to protect life and give citizens better welfare. Once dem no do that one, na big failure be that. Na wetin Benue people dey face now.”
David Mark call on Federal Government make dem act sharp-sharp to stop the killing and no allow the matter spoil more. He still beg Governor Hyacinth Alia make him increase him effort to protect life and property for the state.
He beg traditional rulers, community people and residents make dem join body with security agencies to catch the people wey dey cause the wahala:
“This time na serious time for our people. Make we stand together, talk one voice, and face those wey dey attack us. Make we no allow fear win us.”
He still beg everybody make dem follow law, even as the killing dey increase. He warn say if government still fold hand, the attackers go get more mind, and people no go trust government again.
Meanwhile, Pope Francis also talk about the killing on Sunday, June 15. He pray say:
“Make peace, justice, and security return to Nigeria. I dey pray especially for the rural communities for Benue, wey dey suffer steady violence.”
