The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspects in connection with the unlawful possession of a human skull believed to have been removed from a family grave in Osun State.

According to the police, the case began after a resident reported that the grave of his late elder brother had been desecrated. During a visit to the family burial site on June 15, the complainant discovered that the grave had been tampered with and the deceased’s skull was missing. The matter was officially reported to the police on June 17, prompting an investigation.

Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi said investigators acted on credible intelligence, leading to the arrest of the first suspect, identified as Ogunsola Ojo, aged 40.

During questioning, Ojo allegedly identified two other suspects—Ayeloja Lateef and Azeez Rasheed—and implicated another individual, Kunle Fatai, who is currently on the run.

Police officers later searched the residence linked to the fleeing suspect and reportedly recovered the missing human skull concealed inside an uncompleted building near the property. The recovered item has been documented as evidence while investigations continue to determine the motive behind the alleged crime and to apprehend the remaining suspect.

The Osun State Police Command said the three arrested suspects will be charged in court after investigations are completed and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining public confidence in law enforcement.
