Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected spy believed to be working for the terrorist group ISWAP after intelligence reports uncovered an alleged plot to attack military formations in Borno State.
According to military sources, the suspect, identified as Muhammad Shuaibu, was apprehended by soldiers of the 212 Battalion stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Chabbol during a routine patrol on June 26, 2026. The arrest followed credible intelligence warning of an imminent terrorist operation.
Preliminary investigations reportedly linked the suspect to a planned assault targeting the 199 Special Forces Battalion (Mosquito Camp) and FOB Chabbol. During interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted that the attack had been planned and claimed that the terrorists intended to continue with their operation despite his arrest.
