A suspected child trafficking syndicate operating a fake pregnancy and baby sale scheme has been dismantled in Cross River State, leading to the arrest of four women and the rescue of a newborn baby. The operation was carried out by security operatives following intelligence on the group’s activities.
According to authorities, the syndicate allegedly used fake pregnancies and deceptive medical arrangements to convince victims they were pregnant before trafficking and selling newborn babies to interested buyers. During the raid, security personnel rescued one infant and apprehended four female suspects believed to be central members of the network.
