The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has issued a stern warning to police officers against extorting members of the public, especially commercial tricycle (keke) riders and motorists in Abuja.

Speaking during a strategic security briefing captured in a viral video, the police commissioner stressed that officers caught demanding illegal payments or engaging in any form of extortion would face disciplinary action.

He declared that the command would no longer shield corrupt personnel, saying public complaints about police misconduct had become too frequent and could no longer be ignored.

According to him:

“We don’t want to hear any reports of extorting keke riders or motorists in Abuja. If we hear it, you are a thief. You cannot be both a police officer and a thief. You have to choose one.”

The commissioner said the command is committed to restoring public confidence by identifying and removing officers who abuse their authority for personal gain.
