The Kwara State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity in connection with the alleged abduction and murder of a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.The victim, Sodiq Durodola Olaniyi, a 29-year-old indigene of Oyo State, was reported missing on June 4, 2026. Following weeks of intelligence-led investigations, operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) tracked down three suspects during coordinated raids on suspected cult hideouts in Ilorin metropolis.
The arrested suspects were identified as Adeoye Babatunde Alimi, also known as “Solar,” Bernard Kayode (“KK”), and Owoyemi Bashiru (“GDP”). According to the police, preliminary findings indicate they are members of a violent cult group allegedly responsible for the student’s abduction and eventual killing.
Police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi disclosed that the suspects allegedly confessed to their individual roles during interrogation and admitted that the victim was killed after being abducted. Investigators also revealed that the criminal gang is believed to consist of 12 members, with nine suspects still on the run.
Authorities said tactical operations have been intensified to apprehend the remaining suspects, dismantle the cult network, and recover the victim’s body. The police added that those in custody are also assisting investigators with information relating to other violent crimes allegedly committed by the group within Ilorin.
